This morning, I hit two lifts that made me feel like I am finally getting ’strong’.
From a logical point of view, lifting a 200# bench and a 350# deadlift isn’t much different from a 195# bench or a 345# deadlift. Both are minor improvements over my previous PRs - 190# bench and 340# deadlift. And I’ve made way bigger jumps before, in less time. Yet, somehow, those round numbers of 200# and 350# seem to make me feel strong.
Before now, I’ve felt like, “I’m getting stronger, but I’m not quite strong.”
That’s not to say I’ll be resting on my laurels. Quite the contrary - these new PRs encourage me to keep lifting heavy and hard. Obviously it’s working.
Next heavy goal: 300# squat.
