Thank you for listening. I’m bummed. I wrote about driving around in my father-in-law’s pick up truck, listening to the AM country music station. Ever since then, 1430AM has been one of the programmed spots on my car’s radio. It doesn’t get a daily listen, but it’s there when I need it.
This morning after the gym my regular FM stations just weren’t doin’ it for me. Nothing good on, I flipped to the AM side and punched #6 - 1430AM.
…what the hell? This isn’t country. It was ‘oldies’ but not what I was hoping for. Certainly this is a mistake. I listened for another song and quickly became convinced that something had changed. Sadly, I popped in a Best of George Jones CD and sang along to “He Stopped Loving Her Today” and “The Grand Tour” best I could.
Did a little Googling this morning and found this conversation about the switch. I think it says the Classic Country format has moved to 1510AM. I’ll give that a try on my way home tonight. For now, though, I’m sad.
Workout
Marathoner showed up this morning. He seems to have survived his first interaction with Charlotte reasonably well.
- Warm Up
- 1x Power Snatch + 10x Overhead Squat @ 45#
- 5x Dips @ BW+25#
- 1x Power Snatch + 10x Overhead Squat @ 65#
- 5x Dips @ BW+25#
- 1x Power Snatch + 10x Overhead Squat @ 85#
- 5x Dips @ BW+25#
- 1x Power Snatch + 10x Overhead Squat @ 95#
- 5x Dips @ BW+25#
- Deadlifts & Side Presses
- 5x Pull @ 225# + 5x (ea. side) Press @ 30#
- 5x Pull @ 260# + 5x (ea. side) Press @ 35#
- 5x Pull @ 305# + 5x (ea. side) Press @ 40#
- 5x Pull @ 305# + 5x (ea. side) Press @ 40#
We moved pretty quickly. Alternating the presses and the pulls and changing weights for each other allowed for significant rest with little non-productive time. Very efficient.
The weight room was very empty this morning. I think because the local schools go on spring break next week, everyone’s either left town or preparing to leave town. Not that I mind. In fact, maybe I’d like it to the spring break every week if that means I get to lift in peace and quiet.
Marathoner took off after the lifting. I still had a little time before I needed to go anywhere.
- Rowing Ergometer
- 4x 500m Row @ < 2:00 + 90sec Rest
That enhanced the reasonable sweat I had going on. Out of breath, legs starting to burn, I called it a day and headed to the locker room.
Naked Guy
Back in October I wrote about some Locker Room Rules. I was annoyed that day about the guy who introduced himself to me, hand outstretched, completely naked. I’ve seen him many many times since then. We often exchange cursory greetings. Never any serious conversation.
Naked Guy was just coming into the locker room this morning just as I was finishing shaving and brushing my teeth. He said, “Good Morning”. I responded in kind and walked to my locker to get dressed. He asks, from across the room…
- So, are you excited about the March Madness?
- Me:
- I don’t really get into basketball that much. Never played it. Don’t really understand the game. Don’t know the teams. Guess I’m just not into it as much as most.
- Naked Guy: ~deadpan~
- That was a rhetorical question.
WTF?! I thought, “Perhaps you don’t know what the word rhetorical means.” and then “Maybe you’re just a socially awkward jerkface.” How strange. I didn’t know what to make of that. A mild grunt was the best I could manage.
- Me:
- “Hmmmm.”
I’m still perplexed. That guy gets stranger and stranger everyday. What a weirdo.

Hah!
I suppose you were just supposed to reflect upon March Madness, basketball, or why Duke Sucks.
CES to Naked Guy:
“Were you dropped on your head as a child?”
