1 Weekend, 2 Movies

It’s an amazing weekend when I have time to watch one movie. This weekend I watched two. I know, that doesn’t sound like such a big deal to those of you without children, but it is. And I loved it.

I watched “The Assassination of Jesse James By the Coward Robert Ford” and “No Country for Old Men”. I’m not much of a reviewer of films, so I won’t bore you other than to say I thoroughly enjoyed both. Fantastic movies.

Workout

Warm Up
10x (alt. arms) 1-Hand Snatch + TGU @ 35# DB
10x (alt. arms) 1-Hand Snatch + TGU @ 55# DB
Then:
5x Clean & Press @ 85#
5x Clean & Press @ 100#
5x Clean & Press @ 115#
5x Clean & Press @ 115#
Then:
3×3 Clean & Push Press @ 130#
3×3 Clean & Push Press @ 150#

The warm up TGUs were fun. I haven’t done those in a while, so my original plans for a little rowing were pushed aside for some gettin’ up.

More TGUs
3×10 (5x ea. arm) TGU @ 35# DB
1×10 (5x ea. arm) TGU @ 55# DB
6x (alt. arms) TGU @ 70# DB

That extra 15# is serious. 70# was not easy at all. I wondered at some point during all 6 whether I was going to drop that dumbbell on my head. I did not, but it was a not-improbable outcome.

Corned Beef and Cabbage

The only other item of note, I had my first corned beef and cabbage meal in a very very long time last night. It was good. My mother-in-law cooked it for my family and me. It was really good.

My father-in-law put mustard all over his. I skipped on that and just enjoyed the very simple corned beef in its regular flavor. I put a touch of vinegar and some black pepper on the cabbage, and skipped the green bread. A very tasty supper, indeed.

I’ve really taken to this experimenting with different meats, ways of preparing meat, dishes I’ve not ever had before and dishes I haven’t had in a long long time. It’s sort of exciting. Kinda like being introduced to a new cuisine or regional style of cooking for the first time. Maybe I’ll compile my notes and write a bit about this grand experiment next time.

Something to look forward to.

I liked T.A.J.J.B.C.R.F. but thought it could have been a little more.. concise. the acting was brilliant though, and Brad Pitt was great.
I did some get-ups with a heavy bag the other day. totally different experience, I recommend it.
