My good friend JB is competing in his first Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournament this weekend. Today, in fact. His first match is at 13:30 California time.
I know he’s been working really hard the last few months to cut weight and get lean, to get fit enough to go hard for 5 minutes, and to learn enough technique he doesn’t get pummeled. I want to wish him the best of luck today.
I don’t think he needs reminding, but I’ll say it anyway. It’s good advice for anyone, but especially for fighters. Out-work your opponent. Even if he’s ‘better’ than you, he’s neither stronger nor more fit. Make him work harder than he can sustain. Wear him out. Chain moves together. Don’t stop moving.
You’ll do great.
