If I Were Into Metaphors

Friday morning I slept in. It was unintentional. I don’t know if I didn’t set the alarm clock properly, if it failed, or if I simply didn’t hear it. All I know is that I woke at 6:15 - an hour an a quarter later than I desired. No workout on Friday.
Sunday, mowed the lawn [...]

Hic Sunt Dracones

I’m not sure what St. George’s Day is supposed to celebrate, but my desk calendar says it’s St. George’s Day today. Happy St. George’s Day, everyone. Let there be many dragons slain.
Marathoner and his wife (Mrs. Marathoner, perhaps?) have recently adopted a young girl born about two months premature. Their new daughter has been in [...]

Shake, Rattle and Roll

At ~4:30 this morning I was awakened by an earthquake that hit about 120 miles east of here. Newspaper says it was 5.2. I felt it shake for several seconds. I’m not really sure, for a few reasons. I woke in the middle of it, and it was 4:30 in the morning.
Didn’t seem to cause [...]

Nerdcore

Why have I not heard of this before? Why did I not think of this before? This is the some of the funniest stuff I’ve heard in a long, long time. If any of you are feeling just super-generous and wanted to buy me something special, a T-shirt or stickers would be an excellent place [...]

Modern Dance, Taxes and a New PR

As I wrote about on Friday, my wife and I went to see the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater this weekend. Now, I mentioned that dance is really more my wife’s thing than mine. As such, I wasn’t really sure what to expect.
Roughly speaking, I’d divide what I saw into three categories. About ⅓ of [...]

Alvin Ailey

I’m going to see the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater perform at the Fabulous Fox Theatre. These are the dances that will be performed. I have no idea, whatsoever, what to expect. My wife was a dancer in her younger years and through college. This is her thing. I, on the other hand, have never [...]

The Blues and the Cardindals both lost last night.
On the upside, the local radio was playing The Ramones’ Rock’n’Roll High School when I got in the car this morning.
