If I Were Into Metaphors

Friday morning I slept in. It was unintentional. I don’t know if I didn’t set the alarm clock properly, if it failed, or if I simply didn’t hear it. All I know is that I woke at 6:15 - an hour an a quarter later than I desired. No workout on Friday.

Sunday, mowed the lawn before the rain came and then sat down to watch the Cards and the Astros. Cards won 5-1, Glaus hit his first home run as a Cardinal and broke the club’s 8-game no-HR string. Nice job, fellas.

This morning I got up and met Marathoner at the gym. Did some overhead squats, weighted chin ups and weighted dips.

Workout

Warm Up
10x OHS @ 45#
10x OHS @ 95#
10x OHS @ 115#
10x OHS @ 135#
Then
5×3 OHS @ 160#

I intended to do 5×5, but had to dump out on the fourth rep of every set. That was kinda frustrating (and loud). I just couldn’t seem to get out that fourth rep. Must work more OHS if I’m going to hit my 15x @ BW OHS B-Day goal.

Weighted Chin Ups
5x @ BW+25#
5x @ BW+30#
5x @ BW+35#
3x @ BW+40#
3x @ BW+40#
3x @ BW+40#
1x @ BW+50#
1x @ BW+50#
1x @ BW+50#
Weighted Dips
6×5 @ BW+50#
3×8 @ BW+35#

As I was walking from the chin up bar to the dip station (about 4-5 steps), I left the belt (onto which I had put the 50#) on my hips. It was easier to just waddle 5 steps than to take it all apart, carry the plates and belt 5 steps, and then hook it back around my hips.

On of the regulars nearby said something like, “Looks like you’re hangin’ low today.”

…if I were into metaphors…
