I get up tomorrow morning and fly, with my family, out to California for my brother-in-law’s wedding. I’m looking forward to it. We’re flying into Oakland (where brother-and-future-sister-in-law live), and the wedding is in Sonoma. I don’t really know what all that means - I’ve never been to the Bay Area before - I’m just repeating what I’ve been told. It’s supposed to be beautiful.
We’re going to stick around for several days after the wedding and see the sights. I’m going to visit a friend who has recently moved to SF. We’re taking a walking tour of the city, seeing the water, etc. I was thinking about this just yesterday. Except extended weekends and jury duties, this is the first time I’ve taken time from work in more than 5 years. I’m looking forward to it.
With all that said, my next post will probably not be until Friday the 20th.
Yesterday’s Workout
Three people showed: Marathoner, MountainBiker and me.
- Warm Up 30:15 Work:Rest
- P1: Charlotte Zercher Hold
- P2: Push Ups
- P3: Air Squats
- Rotate until everyone’s done 2-rounds
- Charlotte Relay
- 100m apart, 2 players on one side, 1 at the other
- Players alternate walking Charlotte 100m
- When Charlotte’s going away from you, do 20 push ups
- When Charlotte’s coming toward you, do either 20 KB Swings or 10 burpees
- Everybody carried Charlotte 4 times
I got one full 100m overhead and another maybe 70m overhead. The other two carries were both Zercher carries.
- 10-9-8…3-2-1 Circuit
- Air Squats
- KB Swings
- “Box” Jump (onto 3rd stair in flight)
10 squats, 10 swings, 10 jumps, 9 squats, 9 swings, 9 jumps…etc.
After that we did a few 100m dash races.
It was a beautiful morning and a good workout.
See you all next Friday.

Your group workouts always sound so funny, helped along by nicknames and imagining the carrying of Charlotte.
Have a great trip!
I went on a ‘light ride’ last wednesday after work. 28 point something miles with an average of 19 point something miles an hour. I was steadily holding 23-25 mph on Grant’s Trail, scaring inline skaters as I whipped past them.
Something tells me this isn’t what you had in mind when you mentioned a light ride to assist in muscle healing.
I then rode 89 point something miles on saturday - 52ish geared, 37ish fixed (and drunk)
Skinny tires be fun - MountainBiker
A drunk afternoon ride is not what I had in mind when we talked about recovery. Don’t get me wrong, a blitzed afternoon ride may be plenty enjoyable - but let’s not confuse it with recovery.
