YASB

You’re a sick bastard.

…but first, the New Year’s celebrations.

New Year’s Eve and Day

As usual, my wife went out to dinner with a few other couples - mostly from the neighborhood. It’s a pretty good Italian place, one in which I have always been pleased before. I ordered, for the first time in my entire life, veal. They called it Veal Oscar - it had veal, crab legs, asparagus and mushrooms in a light, slightly creamy/slightly oily garlic and herb sauce.

It can best be described as tolerable. The sauce was good, the vegetables were cooked nicely, the crab legs were good. It was not at all the fault of the chef - I think I just don’t care for veal. ~shrug~

The company and conversation were, as usual, very good. After dinner we went over to one of the neighbor’s house, drank a few drams of really good scotch, hung out until midnight, went home, went to bed.

We were without children (they stayed the night with my in-laws) so we got to sleep in a little bit. Upon waking, we had a leisurely breakfast of scrambled eggs and clementines and headed out to see the kids. Watched most of the Gator Bowl with my father-in-law (a HUGE Nebraska fan), drank a little beer, played some cards, went home. It was mostly pretty relaxing.

Hope your New Year’s Celebration was equally enjoyable.

Workout

4-round Circuit
Dumbbell Bench Press @ 50# DBs
20, 15, 10, 5
Knees-to-Elbows
15, 10, 5, 20
Dips @ BW
10, 5, 20, 15
Pull Ups/Chin Ups @ BW
5, 20, 15, 10

So, the first round looks like: 20x DBBP, 15x K2E, 10x Dips, 5x Pull Ups. I did most as one uninterrupted set. The 20x and 15x Chin Ups and the 20x K2E were broken into sets of 5x each 45 seconds. That was the best I could do at that point. The whole thing took us around 45 minutes.

After the first round, Marathoner stopped and just stood there.

CES
What are you doing? You OK?
Marathoner
Yeah…I’m done. What’s next?
CES
You’re not done. Look at the paper. We have three more rounds.

You’re a sick bastard.

Awesome! Technically, we all have Mark Twight to thank. This is a minor variant on a workout he titled Tears and Power…but I’m happy to be the “sick bastard” of the day.
